GOLDEN BALL – Ball of the Golden Age
The Budafok Dohnányi Orchestra and the Classic Radio 92.1 are organizing the Golden Ball (“Aranybál”) in the Vigadó for the first time, with the intention of creating tradition. The first ball was held in 1833 in the Vigadó, a traditional ball venue, which – as the only concert hall in Pest at the time – became the home of the highest level of culture, with a crowded ball program in the winter.
21 January 2017 Vigadó, Budapest
With the first Golden Ball we recall the XIX. century social life, the golden age of balls. We host a ball of outstanding quality which offers guests a sophisticated classical music concert, fun entertainment and a light dance program.
DOHNANYI ACADEMY – Masterclass for Conductors
The biggest project of the Dohnany Academy, founded in 2016 under the leadership of the Dohnanyi Orchestra Budafok and its conductor, Gábor Hollerung, is the annual Masterclass for conductors.
The course is attended by an average of 10 young conductors a year, who, after an eight-day intensive rehearsal week, give a concert with the orchestra in one of Budapest’s representative concert halls.
„The orchestra is like a family, which I’ve never seen anywhere else in my life.”
Yu-An Chang (Taiwan)
„This has been a tremendous week. I felt myself grow as a conductor and become more confident.”
Lee Pophal (USA)
“Loved the orchestras (as well as pianists) openness with all conductors and willingness to help improve the young conductors technical and musical level.”
