Emibelle is an emerging fashion brand, representing a new chapter for Divisart. Emibelle is not just another fashion label; it is the embodiment of our passion for personalized design, brought to life through a collaborative effort between Divisart’s graphic design expertise and the fashion-forward vision of Izabella, who leads the sewing patterns and fashion aspects of the project. Although we are still in the testing phase, developing prototypes and fine-tuning our concepts, we have begun sharing our journey with the world through social media, giving our audience a glimpse into the creative process.

The challenge

Establishing a fashion brand from scratch is an ambitious endeavor, particularly for Divisart, whose primary focus has been on cultural and musical projects. Our experience in working with cultural organizations has often been characterized by the challenge of engaging with small, niche audiences. The transition into fashion introduces new complexities, from brand identity to the creation of compelling designs that resonate with a broader market. However, the emibelle project is driven by our desire to overcome these challenges and create something truly unique.

As emibelle continues to evolve, this case study will be updated to reflect new developments, from the refinement of our prototypes to the eventual launch of the brand. Our goal is to create a dynamic document that captures the growth of Emibelle and the lessons learned along the way.

July 2024

As emibelle evolves, the focus has shifted towards developing new pattern families for clothing, drawing inspiration from architecture – a field of great interest to Edit. Her fascination with local designs and architectural styles specific to cities, countries, or even districts has been a rich area of research. Edit’s background includes extensive work on contemporary ornaments in architecture, which informs her unique approach to pattern creation for emibelle.

The first architectural graphic design for emibelle draws inspiration from the ImPulzus Creative Music Lab building located on Csengery Street in Budapest. This connection between emibelle and the ImPulzus project adds a layer of depth to the design process, linking two creative endeavors in a meaningful way. The building, designed by architects Marcell Komor and Dezső Jakab, is a stunning example of the Hungarian Secession style, known for its distinctive folk motifs and intricate detailing.

The folk motifs found in the ImPulzus Creative Music Lab inspired the initial designs for emibelle’s first baby clothing models. These motifs, characterized by their intricate patterns and cultural significance, provide a rich source of inspiration for creating unique and recognizable designs. By incorporating these architectural elements into emibelle’s fashion patterns, we celebrate the cultural heritage of Hungary while creating contemporary fashion pieces that resonate with our brand’s commitment to innovation and design excellence.

May 2024

The next crucial step in emibelle’s development was testing our patterns and selecting a supplier that aligned with our brand’s commitment to sustainability and quality. After careful consideration, we partnered with Caspar-Create, a Croatian company renowned for its use of organic materials. This collaboration was based on their expertise in sustainable production methods, ensuring that our products are environmentally friendly and ethically manufactured. Working with Caspar-Create allowed us to stay true to our brand values while benefiting from their craftsmanship and attention to detail.

Our first prototype was a drawstring bag, chosen for its simplicity and practicality. This item served as the perfect medium to showcase emibelle’s unique design patterns, which are derived from the basic elements of our logo. The bag’s lively patterns and vibrant colors make it both functional and fashionable, embodying the essence of our brand identity. The process of translating the logo’s clean lines and curves into a tangible product was an exciting challenge, resulting in a piece that is immediately recognizable and true to our vision.

The production of the drawstring bag involved a thorough testing phase to evaluate its durability, functionality, and aesthetic appeal. These tests confirmed that the organic materials met our high standards, and that the patterns retained their integrity through the manufacturing process. This phase was critical in refining our design and production techniques, allowing us to confidently move forward with future projects.

April 2024

Building on the foundational design of the logo, the next step in emibelle’s evolution was to transform the logo’s line-based elements into the brand’s first fashion patterns. The clean, flowing lines of the text logo served as the inspiration for a series of basic patterns that would become the hallmark of emibelle’s early designs.

These patterns, derived directly from the logo’s typography, are characterized by their fluidity and elegance. The soft, rounded edges of the logo translate seamlessly into fabric, creating designs that are both visually appealing and wearable. The simplicity of the logo’s lines allows for versatility, making it easy to adapt these patterns to various types of clothing and accessories.

March 2024

The journey of emibelle began with the creation of a logo that would define the brand’s identity. The goal was to design a logo that was not only aesthetically pleasing but also functional, adaptable, and memorable. The design team at Divisart focused on developing a text-based logo that would encapsulate the essence of emibelle – elegance, simplicity, and versatility.

The final logo is characterized by its rounded forms and soft edges, creating a sense of approachability and warmth. The simple, yet sophisticated design makes it easy to recognize and highly readable across various mediums. This minimalist approach ensures that the logo remains timeless, while its subtle elegance aligns perfectly with the fashion-forward vision of emibelle.

January 2024

The story of emibelle began with a shared vision between Edit and Izabella – a vision to create a fashion brand that would stand out not just for its designs, but for its ability to connect with people on a personal level. Emibelle was born from our collective passion for art, culture, and personalized design, rooted in Divisart’s long-standing commitment to cultural and social projects.

From the outset, we knew that emibelle needed to be more than just a fashion label. It had to reflect the same principles that guide Divisart’s work in the cultural sector: a focus on high-quality, personalized experiences, and a commitment to making art and design accessible to everyone. With this in mind, we set out to create a brand identity that would embody these values and resonate with a diverse audience.
