The National Youth Choir of Hungary was founded in 2018 with the professional background of the Kodály Institute of the Liszt Academy in Kecskemét. Bringing together young singers from across the Carpathian Basin, the project was created not only to achieve outstanding artistic quality, but also to strengthen cultural connection and community through choral singing.

Our collaboration focused on creating a clear and recognizable visual identity for the choir, supporting its concerts, tours, and communication materials through graphic design and documentation.

The challenge

Designing for a national youth ensemble required a visual language that could balance tradition, professionalism, and youthful energy. The choir represents singers arriving from multiple countries and backgrounds, connected through Hungarian choral culture and the Kodály heritage.
The challenge was to create materials that felt prestigious enough for international appearances while remaining approachable and contemporary for young participants and audiences alike.

Our work

Divisart developed the project’s visual communication materials, including the choir’s logo, concert graphics, print materials, and promotional designs used throughout the seasons.

The visual identity was designed around the idea of connection and national unity. We worked with the Hungarian national colors as a defining visual element, while the circular form of the logo symbolized closeness, community, and the coming together of young singers from different regions of the Carpathian Basin. The graphic structure also subtly references musical forms, resembling the shapes of piano keys and percussion instruments, creating a dynamic but recognizable identity connected to performance and rhythm.

The visual system was created to support the choir’s evolving annual programs while maintaining consistency across concerts, tours, and public appearances. In addition to graphic design, we occasionally documented the events through photography, helping preserve and communicate the atmosphere of rehearsals, performances, and the unique community built around the project.

Impact & ongoing vision

The National Youth Choir of Hungary creates a rare opportunity for young singers from different regions to meet, perform together, and experience high-level choral work in an inspiring environment. Beyond the concerts themselves, the project builds long-term musical and human connections that extend far beyond a single summer season.

Over the years, the choir has performed in Hungary and abroad, including appearances in Vienna, Galanta, Birmingham, and major Hungarian concert venues. The ensemble has also premiered new choral works written specifically for them by contemporary Hungarian composers, making the project artistically significant as well as educational.

For Divisart, supporting the visual identity of such an initiative means contributing to the visibility and accessibility of contemporary Hungarian choral culture. We hope the National Youth Choir of Hungary will continue to grow into a regularly operating flagship youth ensemble, becoming a defining and lasting presence in Hungary’s musical life.

Masterclass for conductors

Short version: the best project of each year is the week of Dohnanyi Academy 🙂

But let’s see what this is, longer version:
The Dohnanyi Orchestra Budafok is one of the top European orchestras: once taking in youngsters, college students and career starting musicians, the ensemble has since become a high quality orchestra, combining musical and human values.
The biggest project of the Dohnany Academy, founded in 2016 under the leadership of the orchestra and its conductor, Gábor Hollerung, is the annual Masterclass for conductors. The course is attended by an average of 10 young conductors a year, who, after an eight-day intensive rehearsal week, give a concert with the orchestra in one of Budapest’s representative concert halls.

As a huge advantage of the multifunctional agency, we are also photographers of the Dohnanyi Academy every year. This is the most interesting week of the year. We spent almost 6 hours a day with the conductors and the band, standing (sometimes sitting or balancing in strange poses a few inches from the instruments) among musicians, breathing with the music and laughing at the jokes. It is a very unique, extremely professional and amazingly loving family.

GOLDEN BALL

Ball of the Golden Age

 
The Dohnányi Orchestra Budafok and the Classic Radio 92.1 organized the Golden Ball (“Aranybál”) in the Vigadó, Budapest for the first time in 2017, with the intention of creating an old-new tradition. The first ball was held in 1833 in the Vigadó, a traditional ball venue, which – as the only concert hall in Pest at the time – became the home of the highest level of culture, with a crowded ball program in the winter.
 
Our job was to design the overall brand identity of the Golden Ball.
The gold image derived from the name of the ball determines the overall appearance of the ball, the gold-silver-bronze design of the invitations refers to the different price categories. When creating the logo, our goal was to design traditional shapes in a modern way.
In addition to the graphic design, we also took part in the photography of the ball.
